Imagining a New World

I’ve often said it’s up to us to imagine the future we want to live in. If we don’t have a picture in our heads, it’s hard to make it real (like designing a house or garden without a plan). A few weeks ago, I made a list. Here it is for you. But I also want to know, what would you add?

• The world is powered by renewable energy in micro-grids, including solar, wind, water, geothermal, and new technologies that haven’t been invented yet.

• Toxic chemicals to grow food are illegal.

• Global trade is focused on food, culture, art, and fibers.

• There are 100% Organic grocery stores. Better yet, 100% Regenerative Organic grocery stores.

• Organic retirement communities are the norm, where neighbors care for each other.

• Sex is taught early and without shame, but with love as the focus.

• All sexualities are accepted, but the age of consent is 18.

• Parents are required to take parenting classes.

• We have zero tolerance for war. And there is no death penalty.

• Males and females are in balance and partnership, but female leadership is normal.

• Schools teach interpersonal communication, gardening, cooking, art, music, trades, cultural exchanges, and are based in nature. Recess outdoors is required for all ages.

• Bullying and violence are dealt with through mandatory therapy.

• All communities are walkable! And former housing developments now have food markets and cafes.

• There are new modes of transportation that don’t require tires or gas and are very safe.

• Local organic foods are prioritized.

• CAFOs are banned.

• Trawling in the ocean is illegal, and fishing is managed to maintain abundance.

• Health and medicine are reformed to include nutrition, mental health, spiritual counseling, and emotional support.

• No insurance industry is required or needed.

• Children are prioritized in society to be raised with love and health.

• Parents are given 6 months to a year of parental leave.

• Childcare is safe, affordable, and easily accessible.

• Education is available and prioritized for all people at all ages.

• Loans for education are capped at a 2% interest rate.

• Technology exists to serve humanity, not to serve a few people in power.

• People are all free to believe whatever they want. But no one is allowed to impose their views on others.

• Women and girls are safe.

• We have created a new economic system that values nature, women’s work, and the health of society.

• Everyone gets a universal basic income so no one is homeless or goes hungry, unless it’s by choice.

• Caregivers are compensated at the highest level.

• The people who grow and harvest our food are compensated at the highest level.

• The stock market and Wall Street are obsolete.

• Guns are considered stupid by everyone and highly regulated, and primarily used for hunting.

• Hunting for sport is banned. Hunting for food is highly encouraged.

• Homeowners associations are eliminated (HOA), and people can grow whatever they want in their front or back yards.

• It is common knowledge that all of nature and nature beings are sentient, conscious, and deserving of love and respect.

• There are term limits and age limits for all elected or appointed government positions.

• Lobbying the government and lobbying organizations are banned.

• Churches that make over a certain amount are required to pay taxes.

• For the people who truly enjoy violence, perhaps there is a special place they can go and get it out of their system, knowing full well they may never return. Kind of like the Disney of Darkness.

• For everyone else, we live in peace and enjoy fulfilling our creative aspirations.
