This hit home for me in so many ways. I am also entering the retirement phase, although I still am a creative person and have my art studio waiting for me whenever I wish to create in that space. But the freeing of my Self to the things about me is the most important.
this is, by far, my favorite of your posts here. many lovely sentiments and admissions, ending with your final line that claims hope of fullness by way of emptying yourself.
Love this, Maria. I wish I could report that managing this perpetual process of rebirth you describe is getting easier. When we're young it's the striving and as we age it's the grasping. Striving and grasping. For me the hardest lesson continues to be that letting go isn't giving up.
Vinnie! It's so nice to hear from you. Yeah, striving and grasping are overrated and not healthy. You are not giving up if you let go of those things. In fact, you are making room for the universe to surprise you with things you never expected! XO
Thanks! It is so hard to give up teaching MBA students about climate change and sustainability, but I hope to find other ways to have an impact. I’m excited to start reading your other posts.

Thanks! That means a lot to me! ❤️

Yep, Maria: "...get out of his head and into his heart." That's the nub of it, eh? Loved your post.
Thanks!
As we mature and release the past, new cool things show up. Your shamanism for one.

I absolutely loved The Swedish Art of Death Cleaning! Brilliantly produced and without the negativity and sadness of the Hoarder shows.
Having just made the scary decision to retire, the timing of this post is perfect. Thank you for adding to my relief of being done!
Enjoy!!
