My dear Maria, all I can say is as I read your writings more and more, that it’s obvious to me that you have a calling way beyond your ancestral inheritance as a leader of the Rodale legacy. Your political viewpoint is powerful, meaningful, informed and I always look forward to your posts.I sincerely think you have a political/social calling and I don’t know how anybody does these things, but it sounds to me like you need a bigger platform. You are wise and full of compassion and understanding and you speak in a way that makes me want to learn more. So thank you for that and your inspiration, and I really hope you can take a step outside your comfort zone and enter a larger playing field, which needs you and your voice. And it occurs to me that your family has always been doing that and it’s in your DNA… my youthful world completely changed by reading and learning about organic farming and gardening, and it made me want to go to school and study plants and to turn into an organic farmer, and then a professor, and now a consultant and somebody who lives to teach and grow and farm and produce beautiful food and herbs, etc. , and that was because of your family. I will always owe the Rodale family deep gratitude for what I learned from them and their commitment to the land, and now I am regularly inspired by you. Thank you. It’s actually really beautiful to see and experience your voice grow into a force not unlike J.I.’s ❤️🙏💐 Eve

Thank you so much, Eve! (Also, my daughter's name:-) I have seen enough of politics up close to realize I do not care for actually being in that forum. I much prefer to write in my pajamas! Hopefully, my words will reach those who need to hear it. And I'm so happy they found you.

Eve, you expressed my own sentiments more eloquently than I can myself. Maria's experience, wisdom and, authentic writing feels profound for me here and now. If only most of our politicians were able to hold tight to these values, this honesty. I believe they enter with all of that authenticity but the system wears their values down.

Dear Maria, Wear your pajamas in the House or Senate! You helped me acknowledge my own party's flaws, my own flawed responses of rage/attack. Maria, you remind me that issues/values themselves need support, reevaluation. We have no time for attack. Thank you, Maria, with great gratitude, and Thank you, Eve. I have the assignment now.

“Do you know why so many Democrats didn’t show up to vote?”

It’s not only Democrats; the American people have been abandoned and left out. We are no longer accepting the the marketing lie that this is a nation of the people, by the people, and for the people. We would rather was the whole thing burn to the ground than reinforce a system that has been for the privileged, by the wealthy, for the sake of profit.

If the governing body of the US cannot grasp the symbiotic relationship between a healthy society and healthy individuals, there is no need to salvage it.

We no longer support a system that rewards clever and morally bankrupt individuals for the pursuit of profit.

Just needed to vent some rage.

I really enjoyed your perspective.

Thanks for reading.

Thanks. And thanks for clarifying. Venting rage is good when it’s done like you did it here! I appreciate that.

Maria, your words are wise, prescient and timely. Such 'common' sense is rare when tempers flare and vision is sacrificed, but in this latest writing, I see the roots of your dedication to all things organic.

Today, while working on an essay about plants, I searched for information about chemical interactions in milkweed plants and stumbled upon these sentences...

"An organic relationship refers to a genuine and authentic connection between individuals that develops naturally over time without force or manipulation. Unlike forced or transactional relationships, organic relationships are based on mutual respect, shared values, and emotional intimacy."

Immediately, I made the leap to what you shared in this latest post.

When people have cultivated an organic relationship with Nature based on these qualities, it becomes the basis for integrity in all our human-to-human relationships. As I read your posts, I see the through-line of this deeply rooted 'organic' integrity at work. Your life-long investment in working organically allows the wisdom and momentum of Nature to 'sing' through your words now. Thank you!

"Maria for President" never occurred to me until this post. Thank you for your words of wisdom, Maria!

I think the duopoly is a big part of the problem so I tend to vote third party, usually Libertarian. That gets me a lot of grief. But here we are.

Peace and Love IS the only solution. The more we work on that inwardly, the more it spreads outwardly. And more people turn towards it as well

Thank you for the way you explain things, and while I sense your anger, I do not feel hatred from you about it. That is a very good thing.

I’m forwarding this to my 10k followers on Bluesky and hope it ends up on the desk of every democrat leader. Your words ring so true Maria. I’m also happy to see not only David Hogg elected to DNC leadership but also Malcom Kenyatta! I’ve been following him for quite some time and believe he and David will complement each other beautifully. I just hope it’s not too late. I’m currently finding myself having several panic attacks every day because I depend on my meager social security checks to get by and knowing what’s happening with the US Treasury systems has me terrified of certain homelessness if those stop. This is no way to live.

Maria, I was reading and nodding my head in full agreement as I read your prudent advice. Let's connect again soon. I would appreciate spending some time talking about the troubles in the world. I have taken on a challenge at UPenn recently. And would really like hearing your thoughts on it.

Maria -So many good ideas here. You've got me thinking, and I thank you for that. I particularly like your thoughts on social media and the next generation. We truly need to go through - and not around - to get to the other side. (I do agree with Eve that I hope more and more people hear your ideas! - I know politics is not your thing, but I know you are on various boards and hopefully will continue to find ways to disseminate your ideas.)
