If only everyone would read this and be curious enough to watch Will and Harper! I met my first transgender woman in the 1990’s. We quickly became friends. Soon after that a man I’d known professionally and personally for several years informed me of his upcoming transition. He’d actually called to tell me because at the time my son was 7 years old and if I didn’t want my son to be around that, he’d understand. My immediate answer, without hesitation, was I absolutely was not giving up our friendship and that I firmly believed that my son should not be shielded from the truth. Here we are, 30 years later and just as good of friends as we always have been. I have since made many other friends in the trans community and am a firm advocate for them. I really feel that if transphobic people would only take the time to talk with and get to know a transgender person they would change their opinion. Hopefully Will and Harper will accomplish this for many people. My trail of magic for the last 30 years has led me to discover many delightful people, both straight and trans, from whom I’ve learned so many things. I don’t need a label to decide whether a person is a friend or foe. I only need to see how you are as a person to know if we can be friends.
Hi Maria, good to see you and follow you here!! Thank you for sharing your thoughts! I will follow up on your recommendations. Mary and I watched Will and Harper last weekend and were very moved by it. I thought it was very well done and should help America understand why some people suffer so much because society won't permit them to be their authentic selves.
Ooh I love this .. . You could do more of these as they are really fun and get you thinking.
Thanks! I will!
loved these recommendations! I can't wait to watch Will & Harper, I've been waiting for the right time!
Thanks! You'll love it!
