This touched my heart. I know the whales to be highly sensitive creatures and understand that they communicate telepathically. For this reason, I often send them mental messages of hope and compassion, letting them know that there are some of us who are sensitive to their needs.

Loved this, Maria! I also use safe sunscreen or none at all while in Kaua’i. Gotta get a rash guard. Last year I snorkeled with a friend/guide at Anini Bay, swam with two honu (turtles) which was amazing! Saw lots of coral and colorful fishies. The whales are right. (Sue Snyder, Melissa’s mom)

Thank you Maria🙏🏼 I have not used sunscreen in years (I wear a hat a lot). I never liked anything on the water (or in snow etc)that makes noise! Yes, to sailboats, canoes, kayaks and paddle boards! I never spent much time near the ocean but I feel their pain 😩

Amen! Amen! Amen! I never wear sunscreen. I do wear a rash guard if needed. I sail. I snorkel. I kayak. I do have a boat we use minimally. I cry each time a mom sprays her kid from head to toe with sunscreen that eats the seats up in our boat. What is it doing to their skin? We don’t allow it in our boat.

They need to stop the consumerism just because it’s what unknowledgeable people want. Sell only the healthy stuff. If they do sell the unhealthy stuff then let them know loud and clear what it’s doing to them personally and also to the environment. People have no idea. They believe they are safe if it’s for sale. . Thanks Maria! How do we get the knowledge to more people????

George's 100"% liquid aloe is great to keep your skin hydrated when in the sun, but not in the water. It won't stay on.

I always wear a shirt in the water, being fair skinned, I burn easily.

When my son and I did route 66 3 summers ago. We wore cotton long sleeve shirts and we wore long head scarves for the sun as well. Like people in the mid east desert wear. I forget what they are called

Long sleeved swimwear is also an alternative to sunscreen.
